PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments 2) is an example of a waterfall methodology. ”. It was developed in the UK as a government standard for information system (IT) projects in 1989. It was released in 1996 as a generic project management method and became very popular. PRINCE2 has become the project management standard for the UK government and the United Nations.

PRINCE2 is broken up into themes, principles, and processes. The combination of these areas brings together an understanding of the important factors to consider when running a project.
