Slack is a platform that allows those with access to message each other. It also handles group messaging and channels. For example, you may have a team of ten individuals accessing Slack however you may want to set up a channel for a particular work package that only involves four of the ten users.
Through Slack you can message individuals, groups and channels in real time, receiving and sending notifications when there is a new message to view and respond to. This allows communication to remain open, informal, organic and flowing, helping to keep teams working together towards the common goals of the project.
