Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project is a sophisticated tool that allows project managers to develop project plans visually through lists, boards, and by timeline or gantt charts. It allows for the creation of high level road maps which are invaluable in reporting plans and progress to project boards. 

Individual tasks can be included in a gantt chart and show any dependencies that are required ahead of the individual task commencing. For example, if you are building a new photography studio you need to a) order the photography equipment before you can b) install the equipment in the new studio.
