Project Initiation Document (PID)
The Project Initiation Document (PID) for larger projects is a bundle of documents. For smaller projects it might be a document which includes all of the information normally held in other documents. These documents bring together the information that a project board needs in order to decide if a project should be approved to go to the next stage. The PID generally includes:
- Project goals
- Project scope statement
- Project organisation and governance
- Business Case
- Quality plan
- Project plan
- Assumptions, dependencies and constraints
- Stakeholders
- Communication plan
- Initial risks and issues logs
- Project controls
- Reporting frameworks
- Signoff
