Learn from Experience

Lessons learned from current or previous projects can provide invaluable insights into what to do or what not to do in future projects. Throughout the project’s lifecycle project team members should be encouraged to discuss and document things that did not work well for the project. As all issues are entered into an issues register, this is a great document to peruse as a team to better understand issues that arose during a project.

At the end of the project team members can discuss these issues and formally write up a Lessons Learned document. This document can then be used for later projects to ensure the same mistakes are not made again. This helps to  encourage a happier team and a more successful project through continuous improvement.
