Course Introduction

Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), by January 1, 2025, all small and large businesses, community-based organizations, and volunteer groups in Ontario were obligated by law to comply with AODA standards. One main component of AODA compliance is inclusive recruitment, retention, and accommodations for People Living with Disabilities (PLWD).

This course aims to introduce learners to:
  • Demystifying misconceptions about disabilities and PLWD
  • Developing inclusive recruitment processes designed to accommodate PLWD
  • Creating inclusive onboarding practices to help PLWD ease into new roles
  • Creating an inclusive environment to ensure retention of PLWD in the workplace or volunteer setting

The course will also explore sector-specific best practices and accessibility standards for community-based organizations and volunteer groups across Ontario.
