Course Introduction

Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA), by January 1st 2025, all small and large businesses are obligated by law to comply with AODA standards. One main component of AODA compliance is inclusive recruitment, retention, and accommodations for People Living With Disability (PLWD).

This course aims to introduce learners to
  • Demystifying misconceptions about disabilities and PLWD
  • Developing inclusive recruitment processes designed to accommodate PLWD
  • Creating inclusive onboarding practices to help PLWD ease into the new role
  • Creating a workplace for PLWD to ensure employee retention

This course will also introduce sector-specific best practices and standards when hiring PLWD for agriculture, retail, and restaurant industries in the city of Kawartha Lakes area.
