Make it in the Kawartha Lakes, with Kawartha Makes

You’ll explore today’s manufacturing technologies and processes, connect with local employers and entrepreneurs, and gain the skills needed to start your business:

  • 6 weeks of in-person, hands-on learning at our Kawartha Lakes Makerspace
  • Industry tours from factory floors to boutique studios
  • Expert-led workshops on key digital and technical skills and the end-to-end manufacturing process
  • Support to launch your own manufacturing business

Over 6 weeks, you’ll:

  • Explore the fundamentals of modern manufacturing processes, machinery, and safety through hands-on practice.
  • Design and build your own Bluetooth speaker from concept to completion with Dan Kitchen from Make Stuff Move.
  • Use modern technology and software, including laser cutters, CNC machines, 3D modelling, and Onshape 2D design software.
  • Explore micro-manufacturing and discover how ideas become real products.
  • Learn to think like an entrepreneur and how to bring your product ideas to market.

Date and Time:
January 13 – February 24, Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly, 5-8pm

Eligibility:
Aged 15-29
Living in or around the Kawartha Lakes region

Location: Ampere Kawartha Lakes Makerspace & Skills Hub, 12 Peel Street, Lindsay

Stipend:
$125 weekly for all participants

Childcare:
Support provided, up to $500

Allowances:
Additional funding available for the purchase of workwear, up to $520
