Kawartha Makes is your chance to explore manufacturing through hands-on experimentation, making and tool exploration, whilst learning from local manufacturing leaders. The program is free and you’ll earn $1600 just by taking part.
Kawartha Makes – a free introduction to modern manufacturing
25% of Ontario manufacturing workers were 55 or older in 2024, which means a quarter of the industry is on the verge of retirement while demand is booming. It’s the perfect time to get into a lucrative manufacturing career.
Over 6 sessions, you will:
- Take part in interactive lessons & activities using trade tools.
- Speak to entrepreneurs in manufacturing about their business and the realities of modern industry.
- Build industry specific skills from blueprint reading to 3D modelling.
- Get hands-on and build your manufacturing product.

Eligibility – Applicants must:
• Be unemployed or underemployed
• Not be a registered Apprentice or Journeyperson
• Not have previously attended Kawartha Makes
• Be between the ages of 15-24
