Iqaluit, Nunavut, July 15, 2026 — Ampere (formerly the Pinnguaq Association), in partnership with the Moore family, is pleased to announce that three Nunavummiut have been awarded the 2026 Danielle Moore Scholarship and will each receive $3,000 of unrestricted financial support towards their ongoing education.
The 2026 Danielle Moore Scholarship winners are:
- Nicole Amagoalik (Iqaluit) – a 5th year student in Nunavut Arctic College’s Nunavut Teacher’s Education Program
- Bernice Kalluk (Arctic Bay) – a 4th year student in Nunavut Arctic College’s Nunavut Teacher’s Education Program
- Maren Hayward (Iqaluit) – A 2nd year Bachelor of Science (Biology) student at Mount Allison University.
The Danielle Moore Scholarship, exclusively available to Nunavummiut, assists recipients with ongoing formal and informal education and skills development. The scholarship was established in 2022 in memory of Danielle Moore, who taught at Ampere’s Iqaluit Makerspace. Danielle was traveling to Kenya to represent Canada at the United Nations Environment Assembly aboard flight ET302 when it crashed in Ethiopia on March 10, 2019. To date, Ampere has provided $45,000 in scholarships to 16 recipients in her name.
“All of these winners are focused on becoming educators and carrying knowledge forward,” said Ryan Oliver, CEO of Ampere. “They all spoke about the need for more women in STEM careers or the challenges that women can face in achieving those careers. Their honesty resonated with us, and we’re sure that Danielle would be happy to know that they’re receiving support in her name.”
