Kawartha Lakes, ON – It’s a new semester, with some BIG STEAM School news! In 2026, we’re:
- Doubling the Days: STEAM School will run Monday to Thursday, expanding from 2 days per week to 4.
- Making More Space (Same Small Classes): We’ve added a second day for ages 9 to 11 to provide a chance for more kids to learn!
- Tailoring to Learners Needs: We’re narrowing class age groups to have separate classes for age 6 to 8, 9 to 11 and 12 to 13 – it ensures we’re offering age appropriate, optimized learning!
- Welcoming New Leadership: Colton Eddy has joined the team, and is focused on enhancing learning and experiences from day 1!
Ampere launched STEAM School just 2 years ago as an independent school focused on curiosity-driven education that brings learning to life. For the 2026/27 school year, we’re making some big expansions based on our learning, and unbelievable community demand.
Starting Sept. 14, STEAM School will run four days each week with days tailored to specific age ranges to support the immersive exploration of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Mondays will host learners ages 6 to 8, Tuesdays and Wednesdays will host the age 9 to 11 cohorts and Thursdays will welcome learners aged 12 and 13.
This is an expansion from the two days each week offered in the 2025/2026 school year, and a change in age ranges to better accommodate the needs of the community.
Accompanying the changes to ages and days, STEAM School is also welcoming a new lead educator. Colton Eddy joined the team in August and is already looking forward to what the year will bring for the learners and for himself.
“In the classes that I have shared with young learners, I find that my role is to uplift their ideas and provide an environment for their creations and perspectives to be supported and developed. That is for me the most rewarding part of the educator role,” says Eddy.
By blending traditional curriculum with hands-on, play-based STEAM learning, students will become innovators by discovering and developing critical thinking, problem solving, curiosity, teamwork and collaboration and more.
The 2026/2027 STEAM School year starts Sept. 14 and runs from 8:50am to 3:10pm each day of operation. Parents and guardians can enroll their child for one day at a time, for $65 per day, or at a rate of $45 per day if they register their learner for the full session. The first session runs from the week of Sept. 14 through Oct. 29.
Registration for STEAM School is now open and learners in all age groups are already enrolling for the 2026/2026 school year.
For those who are interested in trying STEAM School for the first time, the first day of STEAM School is free with the code STEAMSCHOOLTRIAL. To enroll your young learner, or for more information, visit steamschools.ca.
