AI for Teachers is a foundational course designed to help educators explore, evaluate, and make informed decisions about the role of artificial intelligence in their professional practice.

The course centers teacher learning, examining how AI tools can support lesson planning, assessment, organization, and professional reflection. Educators will learn about new research, explore potential benefits and unintended consequences, and reflect on how AI could align with their teaching values, goals, and context. With real-world examples and opportunities for critical reflection, this course supports thoughtful, activity-based and research-informed exploration of AI in education.

By the end of this course, educators will have a strong starting point for exploring where and how AI may fit within their practice.

Course Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, educators will be able to:

  • Describe what artificial intelligence is and how it intersects with education.
  • Identify potential benefits and risks of AI use in teaching practice.
  • Analyze current research related to AI in education and teaching work.
  • Evaluate AI tools based on context, purpose, and alignment with their professional values.
  • Reflect critically on how AI could support lesson planning, assessment, and professional growth.
  • Make informed, values-driven decisions about if, when, and how to use AI in their work.
